| Safe Saskatchewan's Rebecca Trail A Feature at Family Expo | Print this Article | Link this Article | Back To Top | ||
Prairieland Park in Saskatoon was filled with the sounds of delighted children at this past weekend’s Family Expo. From stage shows to meet’n’greet characters, to vendors who dazzled the senses – there was truly something for everyone. Right in the middle of it all was Safe Saskatchewan’s Rebecca Trail. Five Safe Saskatchewan partners stepped up in a big way and each partner ran their own Rebecca Trail Safety Station. A huge thank you goes out to: St. John’s Ambulance, Sherritt Coal, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour, SGI, and WorkSafe Saskatchewan. We couldn’t have done it without you – or taught approximately 500 children and their parents the many valuable lessons of being injury-aware. With the new Mission: Zero Live injury-free. brand released, the Family Expo was the first opportunity for Safe Saskatchewan to promote the new movement. “I’d like to thank the Family Expo staff for working so closely with Safe Saskatchewan, and helping our message of injury prevention to be heard,” comments Gord Moker, Chief Executive Officer of Safe Saskatchewan. “I’d also like to thank our partners for supporting Safe Saskatchewan through their participation in the Rebecca Trail.” Congratulations to Teaira, Nadine and Brianna – winners of the iPod shuffle draws. | Announcing Mission: Zero Live injury-free. | Print this Article | Link this Article | Back To Top | ||
Gord Moker, Chief Executive Officer of Safe Saskatchewan, accepted a mission on behalf of Saskatchewan’s injury prevention efforts. His mission? Zero! Zero injuries in parks, at home, at play. Joined by David Eberle, Chairperson of the Board for Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board and Mike Carr, Associate Deputy Minister for Advanced Education, Employment and Labour, the three representatives jointly announced how WorkSafe Saskatchewan’s Mission: Zero campaign is growing beyond the workplace to include a range of injury prevention efforts in the province. "We are thrilled Safe Saskatchewan is adopting Mission: Zero and that people will be taking the mission with them wherever they go. No injury is a good injury, whether it happens at home or at work," says David Eberle, Chairman of the Board for the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board. Aimed to raise awareness and get more people involved in addressing Saskatchewan’s unintentional injury epidemic, this announcement was made on Friday, April 23, 2010 in conjunction with the opening of the Saskatoon Family Expo. “Unintentional injuries have a negative impact on Saskatchewan communities, their growth and viability, as well as industry, and they adversely affect the quality of life for the people of our province,” says Gord Moker, Chief Executive Officer of Safe Saskatchewan. “Thanks to the support of WorkSafe Saskatchewan, Safe Saskatchewan is able to use the Mission: Zero movement to fully support a holistic view of injury prevention in Saskatchewan.” Over the next few months, Safe Saskatchewan will be coordinating the development of a Mission Zero: Live injury-free toolkit that can be adopted and used by any agency or organization working towards decreasing the impact of unintentional injuries in our province.
